Hidden Campeche

Enjoy two nights in picturesque Campeche and see some of the most interesting and under appreciated sites on the Yucatan peninsula including Edzna, Hochob, Santa Rosa Xtampak and Dzibilnocac. We'll also stop in Becal to see how the Panama hats are made. A special treat awaits us in Pomuch where the bones of the deceased are venerated and ritually cleaned. For an example on how Maya beliefs collide with modern life we'll stop for lunch at La Aguilas with a photo opportunity at Xul, truly the end of the road.

On the Trail of the Caste Wars

Bacalar with Snakes and Wine

For the person who wants a good introduction to the archaeology of the area while sampling a selection of superior wines on the shore of the Bacalar lagoon. We'll visit the Snake Kingdom sites of Dzibanche and Kinichna as well as see the amazing pre-classic masks at Kohunlich.  With any luck we'll see some howler monkeys. Optional excursion to Chetumal for lunch and museum.
